I'm looking for...

  • Opportunities to work in the games industry full time

  • An accessibility, UX or UI design role

About me

  • I am Ben and I have been learning game design since the first Covid-19 Lockdown.

  • As part of living with autism, I love to learn and explore new challenges. Game design is amazing for this as it allows me to use my own 'hard focus' and dedication in figuring out how to solve a problem.

  • Currently I am a Live Action Role Play sword fighting instructor where I teach and run game based activities. Outside of this I proactively create new games for the sessions.

  • Outside of work I like doing church activities and have a videocast called Blue Amber Saga where I talk about my own experiences of disability, accessibility and Christianity. I also enjoy attending gaming events like GAConf, Develop and WASD.

Experiences

  • As part of self studying some of the software I have been learning include: Unity, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, and Blender.

  • Originally I was working in the agriculture sector and have a BSc Agriculture degree.  Through these roles I have developed strong problem solving, communication and innovation skills.

  • Previously I have worked in two disability inclusion charities and have been able to learn a lot about digital accessibility and producing digital content such as videos, appeal emails and e learning resources.

  • I have been able to receive mentoring from three people in the games industry each working in a different area: accessibility consultant, UX design, and marketing. They have helped me gain a better understanding and insight into the industry.
