Game Beta Testing Experiences

Game Beta Testing
In the past I have taken part in game beta testing on board and computer games where I provided feedback and aided in the design process. These have included:
-
Set Forth- A primary educational story-telling game teaching phonics. I was involved in an user interview where I was observing five pupils beta testing the game at a school. Outside of this I gave accessibility feedback on how it can be improved.
-
Operation OutSmart - a sandbox vehicle driving RPG game
-
Game Jam strategy turn based game using AI behaviour
-
Dungeon tile based board game

These were great experiences to seeing early game development. It challenged my own understanding on the importance of Interaction Design in games. A big reflection point for me was having a clear target audience and strategy in mind when making a game. Also, seeing how decisions were made and the willingness to adapt to feedback. It was exciting seeing how these lead into future versions.
