Parrot Shooting Frenzy

Where the jungle is abundant, local tribes have one great desire: parrot feathers.

This is a First Player Shooter mini game where you shoot parrots with blow darts to collect points, and their famous feathers.

Project background

Parrot Shooting Frenzy was created as a personal project to explore an idea for a bigger jungle tribe game. The intention was for it to be a mini game where you could collect feather and coins and use this elsewhere. 
A key feature of interest was to use new methods such as events and random drop item chance after hitting an enemy parrot. Furthermore I wanted to focus more on the creative aspect such as creating  UI  assets in the Adobe Suite and working within Blender on 3D models.

Latest Feature

  • New animated parrots have been created in Blender and added into the game

  • UI screens including main menu and final score

  • UI art was created within Adobe Fresco, Illustrator and Photoshop then imported to Unity

  • In-game timer system with observer gaming pattern using events

  • An updated enemy spawn system that creates and destroys parrots after certain length of time depending on the type

  • Random waves spawning where more parrots appear over time

  • Blowpipe rotates and follows cursor position on the screen

  • Score system

  • A spawning system for parrots with varying chance of a certain type appearing

  • Weighted item drop chance system using action events and inheritance

  • Pixel feathers, and crosshair created in Photoshop

  • Development used using GitHub version control

Key learnings from this project

  • I was able to create a 3D asset from scratch and animate it within Blender. 

  • How to create a project within Github and manage repositories.
